Tutorial : How to root the LG Optimus G Pro F240

The LG Optimus G Pro was first announced in Japan back in January by local carrier NTT DoCoMo, and is expected to hit a few more markets by end of May next month. AT&T is one of the carriers rumored to be releasing the Optimus G Pro on May 10th. Although the device has yet to be officially announced in many countries, some Android enthusiasts have already found a method to root the upcoming flagship. So if you happen to hold on to the Optimus G Pro or planning to get one for yourself and hope to get it rooted, then follow this tutorial closely on how to root the LG Optimus G Pro F240 in less than an hour.

 

However before we begin, I would like to warn you that during the process of rooting, there is a risk of bricking your own device. So if you still want to proceed, you’ll be doing it at your own risk and we will hold no responsible for any form of damage on your device ( please also note that rooting voids your warranty as well ). Its a good practice for you to backup your device to an external source apart from your own SD Card.

 

1. This procedure only works on Windows PC. Please ensure that you’ve installed the LG USB driver on your PC.
2. Download the Optimus G Pro Root ( You’re required to register before you can download the file )
3. Extract the file to your desktop.
4. Enable USB Debugging on the Optimus G Pro.
5. Go to Settings > Security > Tick on the Unknown Sources checkbox. This will allow you to install apps from other sources apart from Google Play.
6. Connect your device to the PC using the USB cable.
7. Double-click on the root.bat application that you’ve extracted earlier on.
8. Follow the instructions on the Command Prompt.
9. Congratulation, you’ve just rooted your LG Optimus G Pro F240!
